Every Petrol Bike Converted to Electric Bike

Punjab Govt Offering Rs. 100,000 for Every Petrol Bike Converted to Electric Bike

Convert Your Petrol Bike to Electric and Get Rs. 100,000—Punjab Govt’s Big Green Push

In a major step toward environmental reform, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced on Monday that Punjab residents who convert their petrol bikes into electric vehicles will receive a cash reward of Rs. 100,000 under the government’s Green Credit Program.

What Is the Green Credit Program?

The Green Credit Program is part of Punjab’s broader environmental strategy to reduce carbon emissions. It allows citizens to earn financial rewards—called green credits—for adopting sustainable practices. These include:

  • Converting petrol motorcycles into EVs

  • Planting trees

  • Switching to energy-efficient LED lighting

Interested individuals can register and apply through the program’s official website.

Urban Forests & Tree Plantation Initiatives

Aurangzeb highlighted multiple tree plantation drives being launched under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership as part of the “Plant for Pakistan” campaign.

Key highlights include:

  • Free saplings delivered to Lahore residents’ homes via helpline 1399

  • 300,000 trees to be planted along Ring Road

  • Implementation of Australian-style monitoring tech to digitally map and track every planted tree

  • Launch of a technology-based forest fire control force, overseen by the Bank of Punjab

  • Reclamation of encroached forest lands

Combating Smog and Air Pollution

Addressing Lahore’s deteriorating air quality, Aurangzeb emphasized that improving AQI (Air Quality Index) and controlling smog are top priorities. So far:

  • Seven air quality monitors have been installed as part of the Punjab Air Quality System

  • Further initiatives are in place to monitor pollution and strengthen environmental enforcement

Aurangzeb urged citizens to actively support the government’s environmental efforts:

“It is the responsibility of every Lahori to plant more trees. The more we plant, the better our air quality index will become.”

This comprehensive green strategy reflects Punjab’s growing commitment to tackling climate change and transforming urban living through eco-friendly policies.
