Green Transport Revolution: Punjab Unveils Plans for New Electric Bus Route
Punjab’s Game-Changer: Electric Green Buses to Hit Sargodha Roads from August 14 – Free Travel for Students and Seniors
In a major push toward eco-friendly urban mobility, the Punjab government is all set to launch a modern electric green bus service in the Sargodha division, aiming to revolutionize public transport in the region.
According to Khalid Mahmood, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), the initial rollout will see 48 electric buses deployed in Sargodha, 12 in Khushab, and six each in Mianwali and Bhakkar as part of the first phase.
The launch is scheduled for August 14, aligning with Independence Day celebrations, adding a symbolic green twist to the occasion.
To ensure inclusivity, the government has announced that senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students will travel for free on these buses.
Officials emphasize that this move is part of Punjab’s broader transport reform agenda, which prioritizes affordable, sustainable, and cleaner transit solutions for the public. The electric green bus service is expected to not only reduce commuting costs but also contribute significantly to environmental protection by curbing carbon emissions.
