Spain Opens Doors to Pakistani Remote Workers with New Digital Nomad Visa

Spain’s new visa program offers Pakistani professionals an affordable route to live and work in Europe.

Spain has officially introduced its Digital Nomad Visa for non-European citizens, including Pakistani nationals, offering a new opportunity for remote professionals to live and work in the country legally. With an application fee of around Rs21,500, the visa is among the most cost-effective options for digital workers seeking relocation to Europe.

A Strategic Move to Attract Global Talent

The Digital Nomad Visa was launched under Spain’s Startup Act — a broader initiative aimed at bolstering the country’s tech-driven economy by inviting international talent. The visa grants eligible remote workers a one-year residency, with the option to extend it for up to five years.

Pakistani freelancers, entrepreneurs, and remote employees can now legally settle in Spain while continuing to work for companies based outside the country. The visa also allows dependents to join, making it a viable option for families seeking to relocate together.

Key Eligibility Criteria for Pakistani Applicants

To qualify, applicants must have:

  • At least three months of work experience in their current remote role.

  • An existing employment relationship or freelance contract with a company or clients based outside of Spain.

  • At least 80% of their income coming from outside Spain.

  • A minimum monthly income of €2,762 (around PKR 856,000). This increases for families — €3,797 (approx. PKR 1.17 million) for a partner, and an additional €346 (approx. PKR 107,000) for each child.

Applicants must also meet educational or professional criteria, such as holding a university degree or having three years of relevant industry experience.

Application Process and Required Documents

The application can be submitted from Pakistan or while already in Spain on a tourist visa. Required documents include:

  • A valid passport (12 months minimum validity)

  • Proof of remote work, employment or business ownership

  • Income verification documents (bank statements, contracts)

  • International health insurance

  • A clean criminal background check (apostilled)

  • Educational or experience certificates

For those applying with family, additional documents proving relationships will be needed.

A Timely Opportunity for Pakistan’s Remote Workforce

Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa comes at a time when the global demand for remote work opportunities is steadily rising. For many Pakistani professionals, especially those in tech, design, marketing, or content creation, this visa provides a legal and accessible route to European residency — with a low entry barrier and strong lifestyle incentives.

With its rich culture, modern infrastructure, and access to the broader Schengen Area, Spain is positioning itself as a competitive destination for digital professionals across the globe — and Pakistan is clearly on its radar.
