Free Wi-Fi Coming to 40 Punjab Railway Stations: Govt Plans Massive Revamp of Pakistan Railways
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Saturday said that the government was heavily prioritizing major infrastructure development in Pakistan Railways, particularly the ML1 Railway corridor.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that plans involve modernizing the railway infrastructure and aligning it with international standards. He said that the government is also focused on improving governance and introducing modern systems within Pakistan Railways.
He further said that the Punjab government would invest Rs. 350 billion in Pakistan Railways to uplift eight branch routes across the province. Additionally, 40 railway stations in Punjab would be equipped with free Wi-Fi services. While, similar talks were underway with the Sindh government for similar collaboration to upgrade various railway routes, he added.
“Once operational, ML-1 will significantly benefit the public. Meanwhile, preparations for investment in ML-2 are also underway,” he added.
Answering a question regarding 10th may conflict with India, he said that the country had successfully shot down six enemy aircraft while remaining within its own borders. “We defeated a country ten times bigger than us,” he said.
He quoted the Prime Minister’s resolve that any attempt by India to block Pakistan’s water would be considered an act of war.
When India attacked, friendly countries like China, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, and Turkey stood firmly with Pakistan, he said.
The minister emphasized national unity, stating, during times of conflict, Balochis, Sindhis, Punjabis, Pashtuns, Kashmiris, and Saraikis all stood behind the Pakistan Army with one voice.
